Cover Letter

To Hiring Manager
Dear Sir/Madam
I will be grateful if you will consider my application for the position offered. I live in a small multiracial and multi religious country, Singapore. Working with people of different races and religion does not pose a problem for me because my circle of friends consists of people from different racial background. In fact, it is an advantage as it allows me to learn more about their culture and beliefs. If I am given the opportunity to do a production show for someone of a different race or religion, I would be able to handle the situation with more sensitivity and more respectful to avoid any conflicts.

The local market here offering the position required is limited and the position is often taken up by senior employees who in turn will personally hand pick their own junior audio technician to mentor and become their successor one day. I feel that there is a long road ahead of me in the live sound industry and would like to experience working abroad to learn more and continuously upgrading myself. I am looking forward and keen to undergo exchange programs locally or overseas especially with foreign crews to have more exposure and to gain new insights in this industry.

Based on my experience, working in live production industry also requires individual to have a strong teamwork bonding and good communication skills to allow intellectual conversation among colleagues to take place. This promotes positive and learning working environment and at the same time brings about meticulous individuals that will check everything thoroughly to ensure all system is working perfectly before the start of every event. During live shows, we cannot afford to make mistakes as it will be previewed on the big screen or telecast nationwide.

I feel that I have the capability to do a sound technician job as I have been in this industry for more than 6 years. I apply the skills and knowledge gained in my diploma years during internship and ad hoc assignments. I always maintain a high standard of discipline and professionalism during each event. Operation manager or supervisor for that day offers me freelance jobs subsequently as they have full confidence in me to run the show without their supervision. My passion for live sound industry grows each day and my biggest ambition is to become a qualified Audio Engineer one day. In this industry, I believe an individual has to be mentally and physically strong. The willingness to work long hours and ability to carry heavy equipment are pre-requisites. I feel a great sense of achievement and satisfaction upon seeing that each event run smoothly under my technical skills and knowledge. For me, an audio technician job is to get the best audio possible in terms of coverage and sound dispersion for the audience to hear as well as enhance the band performance on stage. I also believe that application of a good Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is as important in delivering a smooth event for the client/organizers within a given time. I possess basic audio knowledge but my learning objective is to have deeper insights on the audio specification needed for the different types of shows/events. To become an audio engineer in tuning and mixing for shows would be a dream come true for me. However, I have to start by becoming an advance audio technician first and slowly make my way up. By giving me the opportunity to be in your company, it is a stepping stone towards my goal and I will do my best to contribute towards the company’s objectives and interests.

With this opportunity given, it would be a life changing experience for me as I am very keen to take up new responsibilities with bigger operating systems which entail higher challenges. I can learn faster when engaging with hands-on tasks and adapt well to new environment when moving from one event to another.

If my qualifications fit your requirement for the position offered, I hope to get an opportunity for a personal interview. I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with you and your crew.

Yours sincerely
Muhammad Hafiz bin Roslan
